Michael Jackson didn't want to be just a superstar. Like the Beatles, he wanted to be the biggest, the king. He wanted to topple the reigning man with the crown, Elvis. In life and in death, there was Elvis.

Elvis Presley, who was referred to as The King of Rock 'n' Roll or The King, also died of drug overdose at the young age of 42. His death in 1977 evoked similar emotion across the world.



Marilyn Monroe, the legendary Hollywood star and her troubled life was cut short in 1962 at the age of 36 only. She is believed to have died because of drug overdose. She said: ''A sex symbol becomes a thing. I just hate to be a thing.''


Beatles star John Lenon was shot dead in New York at the age of 40 in 1980. He said: ''All we are saying is give peace a chance.''




And last on our list here is Heath Ledger who died from an accidental toxic combination of prescription drugs, was just 28. The actor is most remembered for his Oscar winning performance as Joker in The Dark Knight.
